Artists Statement
My training at the Norfolk College of Arts and Technology in Kings Lynn gave me a creative passion for the surrounding landscape. It equiped me with the technical interests in light and shade which have been part of my work as an artist ever since.
For several years now I have been documenting the Norfolk broads and surrounding areas specialising in the decay and desolation, particularly through the architecure of redundant churches, ruined stately homes, farm buildings and objects that are simply left behind.
I am predominantly, though not exclusively a black and white photographer. Black and white can convey both a sense of drama and tranquility; a monochrome print lures the viewer into the image while often retaining an air of mystery.
I appreciate and enjoy colour and recognise its ability to enhance a particular subject matter.
